PinTheTime: A Planner Clock for Organized Living

Revolutionizing Time Management with a Unique Analog Design

PinTheTime clock ambition was to help to have a more organized daily timeline. There are now hundreds of planning apps; however, not only technology brings thousands of distractions along with itself, but also sometimes it is the reason for delays in people's plans. There are still many people who prefer to write their tasks and stick them, though it is hard to recognize priorities. Therefore, the PinTheTime clock is designed to develop this process.

People usually prefer writing down their plans to be in their sight, PinTheTime is designed to sort all of those messy notes. The user writes down the task and pins it on the part of the clock, which is related to the desired time of day. A complete round of PinTheTime clock means 24 hours. This convex felt shape with all delicate Cross-stitch sewing, implies time like a chubby little friend on the wall, which makes each touch calming, to have a more relaxing approach to time in these modern cold times.

The process started with brainstorming around planning, the ideas then illustrated by dirty sketching and initial 3d modeling. Eventually, designing details ended up in prototyping: following laser cutting plexiglass gears, pinewood body formed by machining, meanwhile, the soft part foundation was made of layers of foam; moreover, the pattern was cut out of felt and sewn by hand, before attaching to the body by glue, at the end, all gears and engine were montaged to other parts.

Measuring at 500mm x 120mm x 500mm, the PinTheTime clock is a minimalistic planner clock that seamlessly blends into any interior design. Its analog design provides a refreshing break from digital distractions, allowing users to focus on their tasks and prioritize their time effectively.

There are simple wooden pines to pin the papers onto a soft surface all over the clock face. The time is shown by a revolving clock hand, which moves around the outline of the clock, operated by an AA battery.

The PinTheTime clock project was initiated in January 2018 in Isfahan and completed in July 2018. Throughout the design process, the team faced challenges in keeping the design simple while still allowing users to personalize the clock with their own notes. Additionally, building a 24-hour clock required the team to design their own mechanism to ensure optimal functionality.

The PinTheTime clock has garnered recognition for its innovative design. It was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in the Furniture Design category in 2020. This prestigious award is given to designs that exhibit practicality, innovation, and adherence to professional and industrial standards.

With its unique approach to time management and elegant design, the PinTheTime clock is a must-have for individuals seeking a more organized and mindful lifestyle.
